Colouring

Not blogged so far in 2013 so thought it was about time.
At our last club meeting “Pembrokeshire Woodturners”we were treated to a fine demonstration of finishing by Mark Raby. He is a leading UK specialist in the fine art and a real art it is! Mark showed us his many techniques for colouring and polishing during the 3 hour Demo.
I for one went away with a resolve to take more time and go through the stages he suggests and have been trying his methods out in the workshop. He has a very informative video out and it is well worth the investment.
Below are some of my efforts.
Thanks for looking, all the above have been coloured using spirit stains, Jo Sonja’s iridescent colours, together with Mylands sealers and finishes. All items can be sourced from Mark Raby.
